During the week of February 12, 2018, Ms. Williams canceled tapings of her show scheduled for Wednesday through Friday.
“I don’t have the flu yet, but it feels like the flu,” Williams said in a video shared to Instagram, which has now been deleted. The host also added that he has never been sick since he started his talk show in 2008.
“Wendy still has flu-like symptoms and has decided to cancel the rest of the week’s tapings in order to rest and recover,” a representative for the show told Us Weekly that week.
Williams updated Wendy Watcher in an Instagram post on February 16th, which has also been deleted.
“If you haven’t taken a sick day in over 25 years, the ground should be shaking! LOL,” she wrote. “I ride with my life on the line for my work. I’m grateful for the tremendous love and support from everyone, especially my amazing staff. I’m staying hydrated to get through this. I’ll be back on Monday. It’ll be a hot topic!! I missed you all.”
She returned to “The Wendy Williams Show” the following Monday, February 19th.
“I have to say it’s good to be back,” Williams said. “I apologize to anyone who had tickets for the Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday shows. I wasn’t here. I had complications and was feeling flu-like, but I’m fine now.”
