When everything went dark, Vivek Oberoi found light in his family. The actor opened up about his own mental health issues, which he said helped him overcome a “dark” period in his life when everything around him fell apart. Vivek confessed that he was so depressed that he would think “about” late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Vivek was asked about his battle with mental health and how he overcame it. Vivek spoke about Sushant and recalled attending his funeral during the pandemic. He said only 20 people were allowed to attend the funeral.
“I met Sushant and interacted with him. He was a lovely boy and a phenomenal talent and it was a real tragedy to lose him the way we did as an industry.” Vivec said. The actor added how Sushant’s death was a loss to the industry and “common people”.
“If I’m being completely honest, you can end up in a very dark place in life, especially when everything, professional and personal, starts to go wrong at the same time. I’ve been there, dark On the edge of it. It’s not that I don’t think about what Sushant has done,” he added.
Vivek recalled attending Sushant’s funeral during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic and witnessing the remains of his fire and the destruction of his family. “Twenty people attended the funeral. I was one of them. In that rain, I looked into my father’s broken eyes and saw his body there and thought, ‘What if? All I could think was, “If you were watching this scene, if you knew how this action would affect your loved ones, you would do it.” I took this step. ”
Vivek says he has learned that when you’re at that stage, it’s wise to “fast forward in your head.” She added, “Think about what you would do by ending your life by causing hurt and pain to people who truly love you. You don’t want to cause them pain. Go to people, come into love and light. It’s cathartic, it makes you cry, it all comes out. I have that home, I have a home, a family that supports me in that moment. I was lucky.
“I sat on the floor crying like a baby with my head on my mother’s lap and thought, ‘Why is this happening to me?'” I cried for 40 minutes. , and she asked me, “When you were winning these awards and getting all the fame and love, did you ask why me?” he recalled.
Vivek Oberoi recently appeared in the Prime Video series ‘India Police’ starring Sidharth Malhotra and produced by Rohit Shetty.
