Call for contributions to Volume 9: Urban Landscapes for Mental Health: Intersections and Connections of Wisdom and Innovation in Design
The Journal of Urban Design and Mental Health is an open-access, peer-reviewed online journal exploring the connections between urban design and mental health. The journal aims to share compelling ideas and evidence-based actionable recommendations across disciplines, inspiring research gaps, bringing new perspectives, and facilitating the implementation of good ideas on the ground. We welcome participation from academics of all disciplines, architects, psychologists, landscape architects, urban planners, geographers, engineers, developers and others working in related fields.
It will explore the intersection of urban design, urban planning, landscape design, architecture and mental health, with a particular focus on historical insights, theoretical frameworks, innovative design strategies and empirical research aligned with proposed themes. “Urbanscapes for Mental Health: Intersections and Connections of Wisdom and Innovation in Design.” Emphasis will be placed on contributions that draw on historical knowledge, conceptualize theoretical paradigms, propose avant-garde design methodologies, and present rigorously conducted empirical or evidence-based analyses.
Researchers are encouraged to submit original research papers, theoretical essays, and review articles that provide insightful analysis and discussion of how historical perspectives on urban design can inform contemporary innovations to promote mental health in urban environments. The aim of this call is to bring together a diverse body of academic papers that will elevate the debate in the field and pave the way for practical applications that lead to healthier urban environments.
