Loma Linda University Health will find new treatments for people facing life’s most challenging illnesses, expand the preparation of a more skilled and compassionate health care workforce, and strengthen access to health care services. Researchers have officially launched “Stronger Together,” a $300 million initiative aimed at supporting the efforts of Inland Empire residents, especially their children. Loma Linda University Health Dean Richard Hart, MD, PhD, made the official announcement of the campaign during an event on February 28 at Loma Linda University Church.

“This forward-looking initiative reflects our commitment to our mission and how Loma Linda University Health’s continued efforts in education, research and healthcare impact our region and the world. It shows a clear vision,” Professor Hart said.

academic innovation

Education is the foundation of Loma Linda University Health, and our alumni, who serve locally and around the world, are known for their unique blend of expertise, compassion, and servant leadership. Providing excellent medical education has been Loma Linda University’s mission since its founding. The university’s strong reputation for excellence will continue to grow through the Stronger Together initiative in each of its eight schools. The main contents are as follows.

  • Expand facilities and student capacity in the School of Nursing, allowing Loma Linda University to address the region’s and national critical nursing shortage.
  • The creation of new clinical space in the School of Dentistry will allow the flagship school to provide expanded services to the community and prepare students for future practice.
  • Enhancing student access through enhanced scholarship support, mentoring, services, and experiential learning are essential efforts to support student academic success.

research progress

Advancing Loma Linda University Cancer Center’s pioneering efforts in cancer prevention and treatment requires significant investment in research. The Inland Empire’s most vulnerable populations currently lack access to cutting-edge cancer treatments. Stronger Together will support the construction of a new, large-scale cancer research and treatment center that will be a catalyst for groundbreaking research and highly personalized approaches to cancer treatment. Loma Linda University Cancer Center discoveries are helping to significantly improve patient outcomes by researching and developing dynamic new treatments that focus on the cellular level: targeted cell therapies, theranostics, and boron neutron capture therapy. To do.

Strengthening healthcare

As the only children’s hospital serving more than 25% of California’s landmass and the region’s only Level 1 pediatric trauma center, Loma Linda University Health is dedicated to meeting the needs of our community’s growing pediatric population. We continue to develop new and better ways to Stronger Together initiatives to help achieve this vision include:

  • We will open a new pediatric outpatient specialty clinic and integrate specialties and services to expand access to much-needed outpatient care to our region’s smallest and most frail patients.
  • Modernizing the operating room and expanding the neonatal intensive care unit at the children’s hospital.
  • Part of the fifth floor of Hinshaw Towers will be converted into a 49-bed inpatient pediatric psychology unit.

“A group of mission-minded donors has already committed nearly $95 million to ensure that our vision of Stronger Together becomes a reality,” said Senior Vice President of Advancement. Rachel Bussell said. “These people hope their generosity will inspire everyone to realize what we can achieve together.”

“Stronger Together builds on Loma Linda University Health’s 120-year history as a faith-based academic medical institution and a place that brings together medical care, research discovery and educational excellence on one campus,” said Hart. he said. “Combined with our spiritual focus, Loma Linda offers a unique perspective in shaping the future of healthcare. With our support of ‘Stronger Together,’ we are committed to the teachings and healing of Jesus Christ. We can further strengthen our mission of sharing the work of the people of the world. ”
