State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) was recognized Thursday for successfully passing a massive funding injection into local public health programs across the Hoosier State in the Indiana House and Senate.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Lindsay Weaver honored Mr. Charbonneau with the Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Public Health on behalf of the Indiana State Department of Health at the annual Public Health Day at the State Capitol. was awarded.
Mr. Charbonneau is the lead sponsor of Senate Enrollment Act 4 (2023), which created the Health First Indiana program, which provides $75 million in the current budget year and $1 in the next year to improve health in Indiana. $50 million will be allocated to local health departments.
