Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris Making sure players are looking after their mental health: Speaking with reporters earlier this month, Morris was asked what the Falcons were doing to help players mentally, given that June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.
“It’s a tough task playing in the National Football League,” Morris said. “When I got here, I spoke about the mental health of our players and we’re going through a hiring process right now to help our players, to make sure their mental health is strong, their character is strong, their personal lives are strong.”
“Fernando [Velasco] and Ravi [Tabron] “These position directors and coordinated roles that are part of player development and engagement are going to do everything in their power to make the players better, whether that’s personal life skills, on-field skills, performance, whatever. We just want to grow it into a structure that’s a little bit different than the NFL. We want to be different than anybody else.”
Raheem Morris wants Falcons to be ‘world class’ team
Morris continued: “When I came here I spoke about being world class and I think when you talk about being world class you mean being world class in all rights. That’s one of the rights that the players should have and how important that is, not just to me but to the ownership and Arthur Blank and how he feels and the charities that he’s involved with and everything that we’ve been a part of here. With all of that, it’s really important that the players are well-rounded people across the board and we have to be able to support them in all areas.”
Morris and the Falcons just finished mandatory minicamp and will have some downtime before reporting to training camp next month. The Falcons hired Morris during the offseason after three straight seasons that saw them go 7-10. Arthur Smith He is currently the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Falcons are looking to acquire quarterback Kirk Cousins $180 million contract and drafting a quarterback Michael Penis Jr. He was selected 8th overall in this year’s draft.
