Xbox revealed in February that rumors that it planned to bring some of its exclusive titles to other consoles were true, confirming that four titles would be released on other platforms. Suspicions that these four of his games were Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves were later confirmed, with Pentiment having the honor of appearing first among his other four games. However, if you want to own a physical copy of Pentiment, you may want to hold off on purchasing the digital version.
Coinciding with its arrival on Switch was Limited Run Games’ announcement that it would be releasing a physical copy of the historical RPG adventure. Not only Switch but also Xbox Series X|S and PS5. It doesn’t seem like there are multiple editions to choose from, only a standard edition that includes a physical copy of the game. There are also no pre-order bonuses, but with a release like this, there’s no need for that. I’m excited for the game to be physically released. In a world where more and more studios are choosing to make their releases digital-only, it’s comforting to know that even two years after a game’s release, a physical copy may still be available.

Obsidian Entertainment’s Pentiment explores a murder in a fictional Bavarian town in a unique medieval art style.
Pentiment didn’t get the attention it deserved when it released in 2022, perhaps because it was an Xbox exclusive rather than a flagship title like Starfield or Halo Infinite. The story-like style and medieval setting make this game a fascinating one to play, and whether you pick up a physical copy or not, you’ll love seeing this title come to life once again and become even more so. It’s exciting to see it likely to be played by so many people. Available everywhere.
