We’ve known since the launch of Alan Wake 2 that Remedy has two story DLCs up its sleeve for the game, but now we’ve finally gotten a look at the first expansion. Alan Wake 2: Night Springs focuses on the in-game late-night TV show Night Springs, which is basically an Alan Wake version of The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and other similar shows.
The first trailer for Alan Wake 2: Night Springs, released during the Summer Game Fest kickoff show, leaves no doubt that we’ll be diving even deeper into the series’ strange multimedia hole. The DLC features three “episodes,” each starring a different character: Alan Wake “super fan” Rose Marigold, Control’s Jesse Faden, and… Shawn Ashmore? You mean the actual actor? Yep, clearly we’re immersed in the Remedy Connected Universe here. Check out the Alan Wake 2: Night Springs trailer below:
Are you a bit confused by what you just saw? Want to know more? Here are a few more details about the Alan Wake: Night Springs DLC, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog…
“Put yourself in the shoes of your #1 fan, much like Waitress Rose Marigold, as you battle the shadows in pursuit of truth and love, with your trusty shotgun in hand. The actor, known as “Shawn Ashmore” in the real world and “Sheriff Timothy Breaker” in the other, takes on the role of Timebreaker to take down the bad guys who are after you. And in the Northstar episode, as the Sibling, familiar to those who know Federal Bureau of Control Director Jesse Faden, he unravels coffee-related secrets and the mystery of cosmic caffeine.”
Alan Wake 2’s two story DLCs are part of the game’s Expansion Pass, which is included in the game’s $80 Deluxe Edition but can also be purchased separately for $20. At the Summer Game Fest show, Sam Lake announced that physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions would also finally be available this fall.
Alan Wake 2 is available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, and the Night Springs DLC is coming tomorrow (June 8th). Are you excited for twice the weirdness again?
