The Macomb County Health Department’s Hearing and Vision Program recently launched an online appointment system that allows parents or guardians of children ages 3-18 who live or attend Macomb County schools to schedule their own testing appointments. The appointment system includes the ability to confirm by text or email and send a reminder the day before the appointment. While all children are encouraged to be tested, Michigan law requires all children entering kindergarten to have a hearing and vision screening before starting school.
Appointments will be available at multiple locations across Macomb County from August through October. Hearing and vision screenings will be administered by Michigan Department of Health trained hearing and vision technicians.
“We understand that parents and guardians with young children are incredibly busy, especially with the new school year approaching,” said Macomb County Health and Community Services Director and Health Officer Andrew Cox, “so anything we can do to make our services more convenient and accessible is a welcome option for busy families, and it also helps improve the efficiency of the Health Department.”
“The Hearing and Vision Programs online scheduler is the result of resident and staff feedback and was created after an extensive testing process to help families schedule quickly and efficiently,” said Ashley Mascagni, public health services manager for the Macomb County Health Department. “It allows broader access for families to find an appointment that fits their needs.”
