Kelly Clarkson has spoken out about the support she’s received through her recent mental health struggles.

Kelly, 42, was presented with the award for Best Daytime Talk Series at the special event.

During her acceptance speech, she opened up about her mental health and thanked NBC for helping her get through a difficult time.

“It’s important to say that not everyone takes what goes on behind the scenes seriously.

“The fact that a huge company like NBC took the time to listen to me when I said, ‘Listen, my life isn’t going that great. I don’t know if I can live here anymore. I don’t know if I can keep doing this,'” she told People magazine.

Kelly was referring to her move from Los Angeles to New York and her entire show’s relocation to the East Coast.

The TV star moved on following her 2020 divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.

She continued, “They really embraced us and helped us move, and the move was so wonderful for me as well as for my family.” familybut our whole show.

“It takes time. money And the efforts to do so have not gone unnoticed. I just want to thank you for thinking of mental health as a commodity.”

This isn’t the first time Kelly has spoken about big decisions following her divorce.

The actress, who has two children with Brandon – daughter River, nine, and son Remington, eight – admitted she was initially unsure of her plans.

“To be honest, I thought I was making a terrible decision. I knew I needed a fresh start and I couldn’t stay in Los Angeles.

“I really wanted to be in Montana, but I couldn’t do the show from there yet, so I thought, ‘New York is probably my only other option,'” she told USA Today last October, just weeks after making the move.

The American Idol winner added, “I absolutely love this show and I love that kids love it too.”

According to court documents obtained by The Washington Post, Brandon told her that NBC was “looking for more of a sex symbol type.”

He repeatedly said that networks were looking for “sexy people” and suggested that Kelly was not a good fit. invoice.
