What is an ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)? Think of it as “the big one,” the most deadly type of heart attack that is a complete or near-total occlusion of a coronary artery. When this type of heart attack occurs, oxygen-rich blood is unable to reach that part of the heart muscle.
