Including microgreens in your diet can give your body energy.

Have you heard of microgreens? Produced in the United States since the mid-1990s, microgreens consist of several young seeds taken from herbs and vegetables. It is harvested about 10 days after the cotyledon stage. If you’re on a healthy journey or just want to add some delicious flavor to your meals, they’re great to incorporate into some dishes.

Microgreens have been getting a lot of attention lately, and it’s no wonder. It is rich in nutrients, improves digestion, reduces cancer risk, and protects vision, making it a practical and highly beneficial option. Read on to learn more.

Nutritious

Vegetables and herbs are rich in vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy diet. In the case of microgreens, the seeds are obtained directly from mature vegetables and herbs, making them highly nutritious. They often contain even higher levels of nutrients than other vegetables.

There are many different types of microgreens to choose from, so you can manually choose the one that’s best for you, depending on your health and diet goals. Here are some of the most popular types of microgreens sold in stores and the vitamins and minerals they contain.

  • Broccoli is rich in iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamins A, B, C, and K.
  • Kale is rich in vitamins B, C, and K.
  • Peas are rich in B vitamins, folic acid, iron, phosphorus, and magnesium.
  • Radish is rich in vitamin B.
  • Amaranth is rich in vitamins A, B, and C, as well as calcium, iron, and magnesium.
  • Arugula is rich in vitamin A.

Some microgreens are more readily available than others because their prices vary. However, each type has its benefits, so you can’t go wrong with any type.

improve digestion

Incorporating substances such as fiber, enzymes, and phytonutrients into your diet is essential if you want to balance your gut microbiome to improve digestion. A strong digestive system is important because it provides energy to the body and helps repair cells. Unfortunately, many of today’s foods are overly processed and lacking in nutrients. Luckily, microgreens contain elements that promote digestion, so you can easily add them to your favorite meals.

reduce cancer risk

We all know how devastating and life-altering a cancer diagnosis can be. Fortunately, your body can use sulforaphane to slow tumor growth and reduce the chance that your cancer will progress. Eating microgreens, especially broccoli, is a great way to optimize the amount of sulforaphane your body receives. Take your future into your own hands by adding superfoods like microgreens.

protect your eyes

As we age, many of us experience a decline in vision. Lutein, zeaxanthin, and vitamins A, C, and E can help combat this problem. Microgreens are an excellent natural source of these nutrients. As with most other health habits, the sooner you start incorporating them into your daily routine, the better the results will be and the more you will see the benefits.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your health journey, consider purchasing a container of microgreens the next time you’re at your local grocery store. For the eco-friendly, these superfoods are easy to grow at home. You won’t regret your decision to include these small vegetables in your daily diet, as they not only add great flavor, but also promote healthy digestion, reduce the risk of cancer, and protect your eyesight. . Microgreens are a great way to increase your vitamin and mineral intake.
