FOND DU LAC — Fond du Lac is one step closer to a new hospital on the city’s west side.
Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. broke ground on a new hospital campus on February 13 at 755 W. Johnson St., the site of the former Yonkers store in Forest Mall.
The hospital, scheduled to open in 2025, is designed to be a small, modern facility offering 24/7 care, including emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services, according to a press conference at the groundbreaking ceremony. That’s what it means. Services may expand over time based on community needs.
“The goal of the new campus is to provide access to all levels of care, close to home, in one coordinated system,” said Imran Andrabi, president of Frottart CedarCare Health.
The $35 million project will be built by Miron Construction and will include an approximately 25,000 square foot hospital.

Froedtert Health and ThedaCare first announced their joint venture in October 2022, followed by an announcement that the two healthcare providers would be merging, which was finalized on January 1.
In addition to the upcoming hospital, a temporary clinic is opening at 889 E. Johnson St. on Fond du Lac’s east side. A permanent clinic is being built at 1081 E. Johnson St. near Festival Foods.
Froedtert ThedaCare Health’s next venture will be a hospital in Oshkosh, which was announced at the same time as Fond du Lac, and will be a similar facility.
