The Washington County Commission on Thursday approved a contract with a construction company working on a project to renovate the former WASCO building at 342 Muskingum Ave. for the Washington County Health Department.
At the Washington County Commission’s meeting Thursday morning, commissioners approved a contract with Parkersburg-based United Construction Company Inc. to carry out renovations of the former WASCO building in Marietta.
At their May 30 meeting, commissioners approved a notice awarding United Construction a project fee of $694,926.
According to the county’s website, bidding opened on May 2 and closed on May 23. A supplement to the bidding documents states the project was originally opened for bidding in April, but was rebid after no bids were accepted.
The preliminary cost estimate for the project is $632,000, according to supplemental materials.
Commissioner Charlie Schilling said at Thursday’s meeting that United Construction submitted the lowest bid.
“We look forward to working with them to move this project forward.” Schilling said.
Rick Dostal, the county’s chief building inspector, told commissioners he will submit drawings for the project to United Construction Co. on Thursday.
