The International Yoga Day events in Latvia will start at 8 a.m. on the lawns of the Academic Centre of the University of Latvia, Jelgavas Street 1, near the Nature House. The morning will feature a brief explanation of the role of yoga in promoting physical and mental health, followed by a public demonstration of morning yoga practice, or asana practice. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn a set of restorative exercises, which they can perform on their own every day.
Meet on the lawn of the Faculty of Science Nature House at 7:30 a.m. Bring your own exercise mat. Current and new yoga practitioners are welcome.
The international conference, “Creative Imagination as a Path to Liberation,” will begin at 10 a.m. at the LU Nature House, where renowned experts in the field will share the latest scientific findings on the benefits of yoga and Ayurveda for stress relief, health and cognitive function.
“The conference will discuss the positive impact of yoga on overall health, stress and emotion management, and responsible and creative yoga practice. Participants will be encouraged to explore yoga as an algorithm for understanding and explaining the working of a complex system like the human body,” said Professor Valdis Piragus, Director, India International Institute, University of Latvia.
The conference will be conducted in English and is open to the public with advance registration.
