The Mental Health Matters Coalition, based in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties, is helping launch an online tool containing strategies to address mental and behavioral health issues in Wisconsin.
The set of strategies, compiled through a tool called the Behavioral Health Strategy Guide, includes detailed guides created by a coalition of 10 Wisconsin states and focuses on:
● School-based strategies (e.g., mindfulness training, school-based mental health);
Counseling and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Workshops.
● Community-based strategies such as mental health first aid training, child care, etc.
programs aimed at reducing alcohol and drug abuse within families;
A community-based early autism screening clinic.
● Other resources that the community can create, such as a website listing all local mental health services.
Resources and providers and tools to make local youth mental health data available
public.
With this strategy guide, the public can learn about the strategies each of the 10 coalitions used to unite community partners and identify issues of focus, and how each of the 10 coalitions used to address community mental health challenges. Easily find steps taken by the coalition and best practices. And lessons learned. This guide is intended to be a resource for other mental health advocates to adapt and use in their own communities.
This project was a large-scale, coordinated effort to understand mental and behavioral health issues impacting the community. Participating coalitions serve a diverse population in Wisconsin, including rural, urban, suburban, and tribal populations. Click here for more information.
