Nicholas Jackson is due to join Chelsea’s squad on their pre-season tour of the United States but his ankle injury is reportedly undergoing day-to-day assessment.
The Blues have completed their second week of training under manager Enzo Maresca before flying to the USA on Monday, where preparations for the new season will get underway in earnest, with matches against Wrexham, Club America, Celtic, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Cole Palmer, Mark Cucurella and Conor Gallagher are not expected to join the tour following the Euro 2024 trip, but Enzo Fernandes is reportedly a possible participant.
Maresca has been able to use almost the full squad from the first day of pre-season training, which is a big plus for the Italian manager.
Injured stars Reece James, Romeo Rabia, Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana have all taken part in training, to the delight of supporters, while new signings appear to be settling in well with the squad.
However, there are concerns over Jackson, with Mail Sport reporter Kieran Gill saying the midfielder is still not taking part in the team’s full training as he is undergoing daily tests on his ankle problem.

“The full list of participants for Chelsea’s tour is yet to be confirmed, but Nicholas Jackson is reportedly due to join the squad in the United States.
“He is not taking part in full squad training at Cobham as he continues to assess his ankle issue on a day-to-day basis. The #CFC season starts in less than a month against Manchester City.”
The Senegal international missed World Cup qualifiers last month with what was then described as a “severe sprain” ankle injury and was reported to have undergone a medical examination in London earlier this summer.
There are no indications that the Senegalese player will not be ready by the start of the season, but it will be crucial that he plays some matches in the United States to be in the best possible condition for the first match of the new season.
