- Jillian Michaels said she moved to Miami because a three-time convicted man broke into her home.
- She slammed Gavin Newsom’s ‘hypocritical’ response to coronavirus
- But Bill Maher praised Newsom as a “very smart” presidential candidate.
Celebrity fitness trainer Jillian Michaels has slammed California Governor Gavin Newsom, revealing that she left the state after a released inmate broke into her home.
The certified dietitian made the comments to Bill Maher after he told how he convinced the 56-year-old to run for governor.
The comment infuriated Michaels, who said the Golden State’s rampant crime had forced him to move to Miami, where it was “less crazy.”
“My house was broken into. Who do you think let that guy out during COVID-19? Newsom,” Michaels said.
“It was the guy’s third offense. He broke into our house. [with] Duct tape and a video camera. In other words, give yourself a break. On his third strike the man goes to prison and is released due to the coronavirus pandemic. ”
Michaels also talked about how her Malibu home was damaged in a devastating fire in the area in 2018 that was blamed on Pacific Gas and Power.
PG&E was declared a “safe” company by the Newsom administration, but was later forced to spend $55 million for its role in the fires.
“You’re going to hold PG&E responsible for the 2018 fires. You’re going to decriminalize everything, but you’re not going to regulate anything. You’re going to prioritize the craziest shit I’ve ever seen in my life. “I intend to,” Michaels added.
But Maher refused to budge on his case, instead stating why he thought the governor would make a good president.
“What I think about Gavin is, first of all, he can win. First of all, I like him. He’s really smart. Is he a politician? Yes. He’s smooth, okay? Smart people win elections. Mr. Clinton was smart, and Mr. Obama was pretty smart, too,” Maher said.
But things got even more heated when Michaels brought up several scandals related to his response to the coronavirus, including his own actions.
Michaels cited California’s strict school closures and the fact that Newsom was seen in public without a mask, despite the state’s strict school closures and mask mandates. .
“He’s a hypocrite and that bothers me,” Michaels fumed. The rules were unreasonable. He didn’t follow his own rules, and if he’s going to lead, he should lead by example. ”
Newsom acknowledged that parts of his state, such as San Francisco, are overwhelmed by an epidemic of homelessness and drug overdoses.
The rapid increase in crime has also led to an exodus of businesses and residents.
Newsweek magazine reported in June that 250,000 people have been evacuated from the Bay Area since the beginning of 2020.
But Newsom argued that the problems plaguing the struggling city are being exaggerated by Republicans.
However, the governor recently revealed that a Target employee who was serving customers at the store was laying the blame squarely at the feet of a shoplifter without realizing he was being talked to.
“As we were checking out, the woman said, ‘Oh, he’s leaving, he didn’t pay for it,’ and I said, ‘Why didn’t you stop him?’ “I said,” Newsom explained.
“She said, ‘Oh, the governor.'” True story, I swear to God on my mother’s grave. “There is no accountability even though the governor lowered the standard.” I said, “That’s not true.”
He told the store clerk that Prop. 47 would make the theft of merchandise over $950 a felony, one of the lowest standards in the nation.
Proposition 47, passed by voters nearly a decade ago, made some “nonviolent” property crimes and “simple” drug possession crimes misdemeanors.
Some blame the law for a dramatic increase in homelessness and addiction across the Golden State.
