CALGARY, AB, Canada, Feb. 22, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — A $70,000 gift from the Sandra Schmiller Foundation will save lives during the transport of high-risk infants from across southern Alberta to southern Alberta. SANTS equipment will be purchased to provide assistance. Saskatchewan and British Columbia have the smallest and often the most critical cases. This funding will help ensure the SANTS team is equipped with the same technology as his NICU, providing consistent monitoring and a seamless transition between care settings.
“Through donations and collaborations like this, we can continue to provide world-class care and ensure a bright future for our tiniest patients and their families.” We appreciate the support of the Sandra Schmiller Foundation through their generous donation.” Murray Sigler, President and CEO, Calgary Health Foundation
Jocelyn Peterman, who currently competes in the Scotties tournament, knows the importance of spending time with newborns in Calgary’s NICUs at both Foothills Medical Center and Rockyview General Hospital.
“You don’t realize how valuable these donations are until you sit in the NICU and look at all the equipment. We were so grateful to have access to everything. Thank you to all our donors. I can’t tell you how much families like that appreciate that.” Jocelyn Peterman
The Sandra Schmiller Foundation has donated more than $8 million to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in more than 100 hospitals in every province and territory in Canada. Over the past three years, thanks to generous supporters, the Foundation has donated $1 million in life-saving equipment for infants.
“Sandra Schmirler’s determination made her and her team the driving force behind the nation’s hearts 26 years ago. This foundation and its supporters are committed to helping more babies born premature, too small, or sick. We remain determined to honor Sandra’s legacy by supporting .
