Chris Buescher drew a caution when his car loosened and spun in front of Daytona 500 winner William Byron. Byron was able to slow his car down enough to avoid hitting Busher or being rear-ended.
Kyle Busch passes Kyle Larson to take the lead in the race. Pole sitter Michael McDowell was third and Ryan Blaney fourth.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell is heading to the garage. Bell was finishing third in the Daytona 500 when he was involved in a second-lap wreck.
The wreck on the second lap damaged up to 16 cars. Austin Dillon turned inside to cause the wreck. Alex Bowman’s Chevrolet likely suffered the most damage.
Other drivers involved include Chase Elliott, Noah Gragson, Christopher Bell, Harrison Burton, Bubba Wallace, Daniel Hemric, Ryan Preece, Erik Jones, Justin Haley, Ty Gibbs, and Daniel Preece. Suarez was included.
It was the worst accident in Atlanta Motor Speedway history.
