ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. (WRGB) — The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has launched a new Police Officer Health App aimed at combating the many health issues and challenges first responders face every day. We plan to provide our staff with education, available resources, and support that will ultimately help agencies improve their overall health both at work and at home.
The new Officer Wellness app, which runs on Android and iOS, is available for download by all department employees and their families. Use of the app is completely confidential and includes self-assessments, guidance on common behavioral health issues for public safety personnel, instructional videos, all types of self-assessments, therapist searches, and more. The app includes resources and outlets available to first responders in need, as well as a wellness toolkit that covers a wide range of behavioral health topics, not just work-related. This includes alcohol abuse, depression, family issues, financial stress, marriage guidance, suicide prevention, and more.

Sheriff Craig Apple said the department is becoming more aware of the serious impact trauma has on people’s careers and well-being, and providing a supportive environment where first responders, who are dedicated to their jobs, can take life-saving steps. He said he is working on it. Provide necessary support services.
